Strengthen your mind through the practices of
Kriya Yoga
Kriya Yoga, as outlined in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, can be described as the yoga of purificatory actions. A Kriya Yoga practice is made up of the key preliminary practices of yoga that prepare an aspirant for one-pointed meditation. By gradually developing awareness of the self to increasingly subtle levels, the resulting discriminative wisdom can remove the veil of ignorance over our natural state of bliss.
Follow me through a seated practice to find stillness in the body and mind
How was that for you?
Did you find it hard to sit still? Are you surprised by how difficult it was to hold your attention on a sense of stillness? Were you distracted by sensations in your body or distractions in your environment?
This is a common response if you are used to – as many of are – to being attuned to what is coming at us from the outside. Turning attention inward is a process that begins with finding steadiness in the body. The practices of Clinical Somatics and Ayurveda can help get you feeling more in control of your bodily stillness. Then, guided awareness practices (like the one you just experienced) can help you find stillness in your mind.
On the Broken Tusk Wellness Healing Practices Channel, you will find guided awareness practices to begin the process of turning attention inward – the first steps toward the practices of Kriya Yoga. The practices help train awareness of internal experience and are sourced from the Bihar School of Yoga, bringing to life the work of swamis who embodied the practices and share of their wisdom and experience – all you have to do is sit peacefully and listen.
Once you have made yourself comfortable in your body, the practices of Kriya Yoga await you. Sign up for the Quarterly Newsletter for news of upcoming workshops and classes and begin your journey inward on the Healing Practices Channel today.
The universe is not outside of you. Look inside yourself; everything you want, you already are. (Rumi)
