Bring yourself back into your inherent state of balance
with nature through the practice of

Ayurveda

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system that emphasizes self-directed care through diet and lifestyle choices that keep you in harmony with nature, taking into consideration your age, stage of life, and unique physical and mental constitution, known in Ayurveda as a dosha. Through self-knowledge, observation, and mindful choices, Ayurvedic wisdom provides practical steps to care for a state of ease and health in the mind, body, and soul.

The ancient sages of Ayurveda observed that a person who always eats wholesome food, enjoys a regular lifestyle, remains unattached to objects of the senses, gives and forgives, loves the truth and serves others, is without disease (Vagbhata). The implication here is that when you live in harmony with nature, your body has a natural ability to heal itself.

Every effect has a cause

We see this in nature in how the sun dries the desert floor, how heavy rains cause landslides, and how the pull of the moon affects the tides and women’s monthly cycles. Your body is a microcosm of the universe, consisting of its own unique interplay of earth, water, fire, air, and space. Learning how the qualities of these elements appear on the various levels of life provides the basis for Ayurvedic knowledge. Self-directed health comes from learning to view life through this lens.

Most of Ayurveda is common sense:

Like increases like.

Remove the cause to remove the disease

In Ayurveda, this begins with looking at the health of your digestion. A healthy person, according to Ayurveda, is one whose “tissues and wastes are functioning normally and whose appetite is good”. Folk wisdom says “you are what you eat”; Ayurveda says “you are what you DIGEST”. Learning how diet and lifestyle affect your health provides a foundation from which you can start to build habits that support your unique constitution, known in Ayurveda as a dosha.
